Knowledge Summit 2024 Concludes with Focus on AI Economy and Future Skills Development

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) successfully concluded the ninth edition of the Knowledge Summit, held November 18-19, 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Under the theme 'Future Skills and AI Economy', the event attracted significant regional and global interest with participation from over 50 international experts and academics specializing in artificial intelligence, technology, economy, education, environment, and other pivotal sectors.

The summit featured more than 40 panel discussions and dialogues that presented inspiring ideas and visions about future skills, along with the challenges and opportunities offered by advanced technologies, particularly AI. The event drew over 3,000 in-person attendees while more than 22,000 individuals participated through digital platforms. His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, emphasized the summit's growing importance as a leading annual global platform that brings together experts to discuss current vital issues and the latest international knowledge trends shaping the world.

The 2024 summit achieved significant milestones by organizing the 3rd UNESCO World OER Congress for the first time in the Arab region and hosting the inaugural meeting of the Global Alliance for Skills Development during the event. These developments further strengthened efforts to build a knowledge economy and reinforced Dubai's position as a leading destination for hosting prominent global events. The discussions highlighted the critical need to focus on future skills as the cornerstone for achieving sustainable economic growth and emphasized innovation's pivotal role in enhancing global competitiveness.

The summit addressed multiple transformative topics, including AI's impact on economy, education, and training; methods to employ advanced technologies for economic growth and social change; and the essential skills new generations will need to meet future labor market requirements. Additional discussions covered the latest advancements in science, knowledge, innovation, and technology fields. The event reaffirmed the importance of investing in human capital as fundamental to all development plans and demonstrated how collective global efforts can address future challenges.
