Aquinas Senior Living, Inc., a senior housing acquisition and management company, announced the expansion of its integrated resident safety ecosystem powered by Teton, a proactive care platform for senior living communities. Following a successful deployment at Heritage Springs Memory Care in Montoursville, ASL activated the Teton system at Wynwood House State College on April 1, 2026, and at Wynwood House Nittany Valley in Centre County on April 8, 2026. Across these communities, resident and family adoption reached 99.8%, with only a single family opting out.
Teton's AI technology uses passive optical sensors installed in resident rooms that require no wearables, manual calibration, or charging. The system processes movement data locally, ensuring privacy by not streaming live video or capturing audio. Care teams receive safety signals and brief anonymized clips when needed. The platform is HIPAA compliant and SOC 2 certified. Teton's research, analyzing more than 2,000 falls across four countries, found that measurable signals like night-time movement patterns and changes in respiration precede falls by hours or days, enabling early intervention.
As part of this expansion, one of Aquinas's Pennsylvania facilities is serving as the Beta test site for the integrated E-call resident call system, which folds traditional assistance requests into the Teton dashboard. By unifying fall detection and manual requests, Aquinas aims to eliminate alarm fatigue and help staff prioritize critical needs in real time.
“What we saw in Montoursville was the proof of concept; what we are seeing today in State College and Centre County is proof of scale with near universal adoption,” said Stephen J. Schmid, President and CEO of Aquinas Senior Living. “Our residents and their families aren’t just accepting this technology - they are embracing it.”
Jim Burnham, Chief Operating Officer, added, “By integrating Teton’s computer-vision AI with our new E-call resident response system, we are moving away from disparate ‘point solutions’ toward a truly unified ecosystem.”
Katie Grant, President, U.S., Teton, emphasized, “The reality of moving care from reactive to proactive is that it goes beyond operational gains, it changes the quality of life for residents. A fall that doesn’t happen, a hospitalization avoided, a family member who sleeps better at night knowing their loved one is safe.”
