Julius Baer Group has appointed Francis Hoefman as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and a member of its Global Wealth Management Committee, effective 11 January 2027. She succeeds Guido Ruoss, who will leave the bank after 18 years, including 11 years leading the HR function, to pursue another opportunity. The announcement, made via NEWMEDIAWIRE, underscores the bank's emphasis on human capital as a cornerstone of its strategy.
Hoefman brings over 20 years of international HR experience, most recently at Reckitt, a global consumer goods company with about 36,000 employees across more than 80 countries. She led a global HR organisation of approximately 500 professionals and was responsible for talent, leadership development, category capability, and the R&D people agenda. Her role in shaping leadership, talent, and culture at Reckitt, as well as her prior senior HR positions at H.J. Heinz and Mars Inc., positions her as a transformative leader.
CEO Stefan Bollinger emphasised the importance of the appointment: “Our people are our most valuable asset, so we set out to find the very best CHRO, regardless of sector or geography.” He highlighted Hoefman's experience at a company known for developing high-performing teams, a growth mindset, and an entrepreneurial ownership culture. This signals Julius Baer's intent to foster a similar culture to drive business results and maintain its premium position in wealth management.
The move is significant for Julius Baer, the leading Swiss wealth management group with CHF 547 billion in assets under management as of June 2026. In a competitive sector where talent is a key differentiator, Hoefman's expertise in organisational transformation and talent development will be crucial. Her appointment is expected to bolster the bank's people agenda, unlock employee potential, and reinforce its status as an employer of choice. Bollinger added, “She will be a valuable addition to our senior management team, driving our people agenda, unlocking the full potential of our talented employees across the Group, and ensuring Julius Baer is employer of choice and the prime spot for prime talent.”
Hoefman's legal background, including a Master of Laws in Company Law and Labour from Maastricht University and a post-master specialisation in Labour Law from Grotius Academy, adds depth to her HR leadership. Her career began as Director of VHPP, the association representing senior Philips employees, before moving to senior HR roles at H.J. Heinz and Mars Inc. This diverse experience across industries and geographies will be instrumental in addressing the complexities of a global wealth management firm.
The transition comes as Julius Baer continues to focus on its purpose of “creating value beyond wealth.” With a presence in around 25 countries and 60 locations, the bank relies on its client-centric approach, objective advice, and entrepreneurial management culture to stand out. Hoefman's appointment is a clear indication that investing in human capital remains central to that strategy. For more information, visit www.newmediawire.com.
