The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) announced the hosting of the 9th edition of the Knowledge Summit on 18-19 November 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Center. This year's event, organized under the theme 'Future Skills and AI Economy', will facilitate discussions on knowledge development, future skills challenges, and opportunities to promote international understanding for building sustainable knowledge-based economies.
The summit will introduce the Global Knowledge Index 2024, which has become a crucial tool for developing policies and national visions by highlighting strengths and improvement areas across education, R&D, innovation, technology, and knowledge-based economy sectors. This comprehensive instrument guides future strategies for sustainable development worldwide.
For the first time in the Arab World, the 3rd UNESCO World OER Congress will be held as part of the summit, organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. Approximately 500 ministers, senior officials, and decision-makers from education, digital services, and communications sectors are expected to participate in this significant gathering.
The event will also honor winners of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award, recognizing achievements that contribute to knowledge dissemination and inspire creative individuals to develop new pathways for knowledge sharing and cultivation. Panel discussions on future skills and AI will be featured by Coursera, the prominent online learning platform.
The summit agenda includes interactive sessions, workshops, and knowledge events with participation from global thinkers, creators, and personalities in artificial intelligence, technology, economy, education, environment, health, and other vital sectors. Sessions will focus on promoting sustainable economic growth, workforce skills development, future jobs, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and emerging technologies including data analysis, machine learning, programming, and AI.
This year's edition has expanded significantly, featuring over 747 panel sessions with 1,765 speakers including innovative thinkers, entrepreneurs, and decision-makers from around the world, and attracting 81,000 attendees, with expectations for further growth in the upcoming summit. The event reinforces Dubai's position as a global hub for innovation and knowledge exchange while contributing to improved living standards and sustainable future development through technology and innovation-driven growth strategies.
