The Hero Awards has announced a new program enabling citizen activists to achieve recognition for their efforts toward the UN's 17 Sustainability Goals by following a customized progression cycle involving seven popular AI models. According to Sustainability Director Amy Chang, the initiative addresses the lack of recognition for everyday contributors to planetary improvement by combining AI and human intelligence to evolve answers to the UN's 169 Targets. This process leverages each large language model's strengths while minimizing hallucinations, resulting in comprehensive and trustworthy action plans.
The proven sequence involves Meta.ai, Claude.ai, Copilot.microsoft.com, Gemini.google.com, Perplexity.ai, Deepseek.com, and Chatgpt.com (v.5), where each AI refines the previous output. Initial testing involved students from Cambridge, Yale, Berkeley, Princeton, Harvard, Stanford, and Oxford, assisted by girls from the Herat Underground School in Afghanistan, which educates girls barred from formal schooling by the Taliban. The project was co-created by Friends Beyond Borders, AI Happiness Accelerator, and the World Mind Network.
Participants who carefully follow the formula are highly likely to win a Hero Award, as the AI-assisted process uncovers valuable innovative solutions. Answers are archived on The Hero Awards' academia.edu site for ongoing study, and multiple participants can address the same Target due to the endless creativity of AIs and human partners. Winners are celebrated across the group's media platforms and can confer the award on others who follow the protocol.
Beyond the solutions generated, the program significantly enhances participants' cognitive skills. Education Director Savithri Machiraju notes that each AI's unique personality and strengths help users improve both AI responses and their own problem-solving abilities exponentially. A precursor project showed that for every 100 run-throughs, 61 participants wrote a blog post, 39 published an article, 8 started an NGO or non-profit, and 5 initiated a startup, with similar outcomes expected here. Chang emphasizes that this democratizes efforts toward planetary preservation and human thriving, fostering a global mindset that change is possible and rewarding.
