The artificial intelligence revolution is producing a steady stream of announcements and developments, creating frequent potential catalysts for traders who can act quickly. A new exchange-traded note aims to give sophisticated investors a way to pursue amplified exposure to the companies at the center of that economy, but its structure makes it a short-term trading instrument rather than a long-term holding.
The MicroSectors 3x Long MANGOS+ ex Private Companies ETN (NYSE: MNGU), launched in August by REX Shares and issued by the Bank of Montreal, provides three times the daily performance of the NYSE MaNGoS+ Index. That index is a rules-based, equal-weighted benchmark of 10 U.S.-listed companies driving the AI economy. Because the leverage resets daily, returns over any period longer than one day will differ from three times the index return, and losses compound in the same way gains do. A choppy, sideways market can produce losses through the daily reset mechanism, with the effect increasing alongside index volatility and holding period. The note is therefore designed to be tracked over the trading day, not bought and held.
The underlying index is concentrated, holding 10 constituents at 10% each and rebalancing quarterly. That concentration can make it more volatile than a broadly diversified benchmark, and any single constituent can materially affect the index level. The 3x leverage factor amplifies that effect in both directions. The index's six named anchors are major AI players, and every anchor meeting qualification requirements is selected. Anthropic PBC and OpenAI Group PBC were private at the index launch and are therefore ineligible, though they seed the supply chain search and could be included after listing if they satisfy eligibility rules. The ETN includes only common stocks, ADRs and GDRs listed on the New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq, NYSE American, NYSE Arca or Cboe BZX.
Inclusion criteria are demanding. Each anchor must carry a float-adjusted market capitalization of at least $5 billion, a six-month average daily traded value of $100 million or more, a free float of at least 5%, a positive trailing 12-month price-to-sales ratio and at least 60 calendar days of active trading, with shorter thresholds for qualifying ADRs and MaNGoS+ securities. The index also considers companies that are customers or suppliers of the major AI anchors, ranking candidates by AI-related revenue exposure, such as sales of AI-optimized servers, accelerated-compute systems, GPUs, networking gear, cloud AI services and machine learning platforms. The highest-ranked companies fill the index to 10 constituents, and the threshold can be lowered if too few qualify.
For traders with a short-term bullish view on AI leaders, MNGU offers a single vehicle rather than a direct bet on one company. Those interested in the structure can head over to the fund's page to learn more. The announcement, originally published on Benzinga, was distributed through NEWMEDIAWIRE and includes a featured image from Shutterstock. The product matters because it packages leveraged AI exposure into one tradable note, but its daily reset and concentrated basket mean the risk of magnified losses is as real as the potential for magnified gains.
