Canamera Energy Metals Corp. (OTCQB: EMETF) (FSE: 4LF0) has commenced diamond drilling at its Schryburt Lake Rare Earth Element-Niobium Project in northwestern Ontario, marking the project’s first-ever diamond drilling campaign. The approximately C$1.7 million program, announced on Oct. 22, 2026, includes three inclined holes totaling roughly 1,500 meters targeting magnetic anomalies beneath the Blue Jay, Starling and Blackbird targets. This inaugural drill program is significant because it represents the first direct test of the project’s rare earth and niobium potential, which could position Canamera as a contributor to Western critical mineral supply chains.
Drill locations were selected using historical exploration data, geophysical surveys, surface sampling and artificial intelligence-driven modeling by ExploreTech. The integration of AI into target selection underscores a growing trend in mineral exploration where data-driven approaches aim to increase the efficiency and accuracy of drill programs. For investors, the use of AI modeling may reduce risk by prioritizing high-probability targets, potentially enhancing the odds of a discovery.
The 12-person field crew includes members of Nibinamik First Nation under an exploration agreement announced on Oct. 8, 2026. This collaboration highlights the importance of early and meaningful engagement with Indigenous communities in resource development, which can facilitate project permitting and social license. The involvement of local community members also supports economic participation and capacity building in the region.
Program expenditures will contribute toward the C$1.5 million spending requirement for Canamera to earn an initial 51% interest in the project, with the potential to earn up to 90% through a three-stage agreement. This earn-in structure is a key implication for shareholders, as successful exploration results could substantially increase the company’s ownership stake in a potentially valuable asset. The drilling program is therefore not only a technical milestone but also a strategic step toward consolidating control over the project.
Separately, Canamera announced plans to consolidate its common shares on a one-for-six basis, subject to Canadian Securities Exchange approval, with trading on a consolidated basis expected to begin on or about Nov. 6, 2026. Following the consolidation, approximately 25.5 million shares are expected to be outstanding, subject to rounding adjustments. The company’s name and trading symbol, EMET, will remain unchanged. Shareholders holding shares electronically will have their positions adjusted automatically, while holders of physical certificates will receive instructions for exchanging their shares. A share consolidation can be an important signal for investors, often aimed at improving the company’s capital structure and potentially increasing the per-share price to attract a broader range of institutional investors.
Canamera Energy Metals is a rare earth elements exploration and development company with an expanding project portfolio across Brazil, the United States, and Canada. The company is focused on advancing ionic clay REE projects in Brazil and critical mineral assets in North America to support Western rare earth supply chain independence. As global demand for rare earth elements continues to rise, driven by clean energy technologies and defense applications, Canamera’s exploration efforts could play a role in reducing reliance on non-Western sources.
