Featured Makes AI-Powered PR Workflows Free for All Users

Featured, the AI co-pilot for PR, announced that its Workflows feature is now available on every plan, including Free. Previously limited to paid tiers since July 14, 2026, this expansion means that any user can leverage always-on automations to monitor journalist requests, HARO queries, podcasts, bylined article opportunities, speaking events, awards, media mentions, competitor coverage, and AI visibility on a custom schedule. The move signals a significant shift in the accessibility of PR tools, potentially democratizing media outreach for small businesses, founders, and individual experts who previously could not afford such monitoring services.

The importance of this announcement lies in its potential to level the playing field in public relations. PR agencies have long paid for media monitoring, but most small businesses and solo entrepreneurs have never set up systematic tracking of opportunities. According to Featured's Workflows Usage Report, since Workflows launched on June 16, 2026, users have created 467 workflows, completed 26,239 runs, and surfaced 93,012 matched opportunities, with 93% of runs finding at least one match. This data underscores the effectiveness of automated monitoring and suggests that broader access could lead to a surge in media placements from a more diverse set of voices.

Setting up a workflow is straightforward. Users can visit Featured Workflows to select a pre-built workflow and fill in three fields: what to look for, when to receive it, and where to send them. Alternatively, users can create a workflow by typing a single sentence into Featured Chat, such as, "Send me HARO requests about small business finance every morning in Slack." Workflows are configured in plain language rather than search syntax, with scheduling options that include hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or a custom cadence. Results can be delivered by email or to a connected Slack channel.

Featured Workflows cover 12 types of monitoring, including Journalist Requests from sources like HARO and Connectively, Podcasts, Journalists, Bylined Articles, Speaking Opportunities, Creators, Awards, Media Mentions, Competitor Visibility, GEO/AI Visibility, and an All-in-One option. Unlike automated outreach tools, Workflows stop at the opportunity; they notify users but do not automatically contact journalists, podcast hosts, publishers, or event organizers. A human remains in the loop to review each opportunity and decide whether and how to respond. As Brett Farmiloe, CEO of Featured, explained, "PR opportunities can come up at any time, and manually searching for them every day is difficult to sustain. PR agencies already pay for monitoring. Most founders and small businesses never set it up. Putting Workflows on the Free plan means anyone can decide what to monitor and how often to hear about it, and Featured does the recurring research. Automation stops at the opportunity. A person still decides whether it's relevant and what to say."

Availability and pricing: Featured Workflows are available on every Featured plan, including Free. Free users can run Workflows until they reach the day's usage allowance; workflows then pause and resume when usage resets the next day. Lite is $29 per month and Pro is $79 per month when billed annually, with higher usage allowances on paid plans. This pricing structure makes it feasible for individuals and small teams to experiment with PR automation without a significant financial commitment.

The broader implications of this announcement are twofold. First, it could lead to a more crowded media landscape as more individuals and small businesses gain access to tools that were once the domain of PR professionals. Second, it emphasizes the role of human judgment in PR; by stopping at the opportunity, Featured ensures that outreach remains personalized and relevant, potentially reducing spam and improving the quality of pitches that journalists receive. As AI continues to transform PR, Featured's decision to offer Workflows for free may accelerate the trend toward democratized media engagement.
